AI listing tools: what actually matters

A lot of "AI listing assistant" apps look similar in a screenshot: snap a photo, get a title and description. The differences that actually matter show up after a few uses, not in the marketing page. Here's what to check — including for Listo.

Does it invent facts, or flag what it doesn't know?

The riskiest failure mode for an AI listing tool is confidently guessing a brand, material, or size it can't actually verify from the photo. That creates listings that misrepresent the item — which costs you disputes and returns, not just an awkward correction. A tool worth using should lower its confidence and ask you to fill in gaps rather than fabricate details.

Does it write in your language, or translate into it?

There's a real difference between copy written natively for a market and copy translated word-for-word from English. Translated listings often read stiffly and miss the phrasing local buyers actually search for. If you sell in French, German, or Dutch, check whether the output reads like something a native speaker would actually post.

Does it touch your marketplace account, or just assist?

Some tools promise to "auto-post" or "auto-fill" listings directly into Vinted or Marktplaats. That typically means automating against a marketplace's private interfaces — which usually violates that marketplace's terms of service and can put your account at risk. A tool that generates the content and hands it to you to post yourself (via copy, paste, or your phone's native share sheet) is doing the useful part without that risk.

What happens to your photos?

Your photo has to go somewhere to be analyzed. Reasonable questions to ask any tool: is it stored, for how long, is it sent to a third-party AI provider, and can you delete it (and your account) completely and immediately? "We don't collect any data" is not a credible claim for a tool that has to process your photo to work — be skeptical of it.

Is the free tier honestly free, or a bait-and-switch?

A clear, fixed number of free listings per month (rather than a vague "limited free trial") tells you upfront what you're getting and makes the cost of scaling up predictable.

Where Listo lands on this, plainly: it flags uncertain fields instead of guessing, writes natively in Dutch/English/French/German, only assists with copy/share/paste (never auto-posts to a marketplace), and photos + listings are deletable — permanently, immediately — from the app's delete-account action. Judge any tool, including this one, against the same list.
